Academic Expectations

Reading:
             1.       Identify lower/upper case letters and sounds for each letter A-Z

2.      Diagraphs:  qu, ch, th, sh, wh, ai, ar, ee, or, er, ie, ng, oa, oi, oo, ou, ow, ue

3.      Blends: bl, cl, fl, gl, pl, sl, br, cr, dr, fr, gr, pr, tr, sk, sm, sn, sp, st, sw, tw

4.    Read a book together!  Ask questions about the story.

5.    Identify/Read 25 sight words from our Kindergarten list

Writing: Practice makes perfect!

1.      Practice writing first and last name

2.      Practice writing focus letters and CVC words (ex. Cat, pig, dog, net, bed, etc.)

3.      Practice writing numbers 0-25

Math:

1.      Rote counting 1-75 (memorization)

2.      Identify 0-10 objects in a set

3.    Beginning to use addition in story problems

4.      Positional words (example: up, down, over, under, through)

5.      Identify coins and amounts for each

6.      Understand probability

7. Follows 3-4 step directions
8. Compares sizes
